  2. Hello everyone! Today I'm writing an advance tutorial about how to add a new attribute to an XML element. This can be challenging however I will try my hardest to clarify on the subject now lets get started. What you will need (Materials): Notepads. PC. Suspecting you have everything running and ready to go you will need to type the following (This is alot of typing): <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <body> <script> if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.open("GET","books.xml",false); xmlhttp.send(); xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML; x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("book"); for(i=0;i<x.length;i++) { x.setAttribute("edition","first"); } //Output all attribute values for (i=0;i<x.length;i++) { document.write("Category: " + x.getAttribute('category') + "<br>"); document.write("Edition: " + x.getAttribute('edition') + "<br>"); } </script> </body> </html> Now once you are done with typing, and if you want to change the XML attribute element there are certain lines you can start from. Here is an example: x.setAttribute("edition","first"); } You can change the "edition" or "first" to change the attribute element. So like this: x.setAttribute("Collection",Vol.3"); } After you done save the file as a XML. In notepad. Thanks for reading I hope that you will gain insight on this topic.
